Sometimes getting the shot can end up being the shot.

I find it amazing the lengths we go to to get the shot sometimes.  This is Micheal Dunn, a friend and fellow photographer, wading into the fountain in a local park in Denver, Colorado, to get a shot of a young girl playing in the water as her father sat on the edge watching.

Jax's First Emergency Room Trip

Children's Hospital, Aurora, Colorado

At 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 27, 2010, my kids should have been asleep.  I have gotten used to the fact that this is very unlikely most nights, so instead the kids head to their room at 8 o'clock and are supposed to play quietly.  I've given up on enforcing the in your bed method as I end up spending the next two hours making return trips up and down the stairs every five minutes or so.  That night was a bit different, they were playing quietly then all of a sudden my 4 year old son was at the top of the stairs screaming.  Not an unusual occurrence seeing as they fight alot when they are tired, but this scream was different.  I turned the corner to see him with his hand holding his head and blood gushing down the side of his face and across his chest.  Nope, not the usual scream.

We got downstairs to the bathroom, got him cleaned up, I called my husband at work and ee figured out where the closest emergency room was.  Half an hour later I was checking him in.  That's when we heard the story of what happened.

I must preface this by saying that my kids are very creative and extremely industrious.  I encourage it to a point. That night they had decided to turn the mattress on the bed into a slide, Char pushed Jax down the slide, he fell and landed on the corner of a Lego.  Yes, a LEGO!  The nurses took a look, put some numbing gel on and sent us to the waiting room.

While sitting in the waiting room with a 3 year old and a 4 year old I had to find some way of keeping them entertained.  We started playing I-Spy.  I-Spy continued into the doctor's office where we waited for him to get his stitches.  This set of images is the result of our game of I-Spy, with a shot of Jax waiting in the center.
